3 simple steps to making great content
This is a good one...
You may have heard the phrase “attention economy”
This is basically what social media is.
If you can hold attention on social media, you’ll win
So how do you get more attention on your content?
By differentiating yourself from the crowd and becoming unique. Not just a super niche account telling us niche information over and over.
By being unique you stick in people’s minds more and you become someone they relate to
People then remember you and are more likely to come back to you
But how do you ACTUALLY make your content unique?
Here is a 3-step formula:
1. Merge interests with your message
As humans, we are interested in more than one thing.
So talk about your other interests and relate them with the message you want to put out there
For example, I made a video recently on not just relying on when inspiration strikes
In the video, I made the comparison of consistently making content to “being the CR7 of your chosen sector and showing up consistently”
Why…? Because I fu****g love Cristiano Ronaldo.
The result? I got a load of DMs like this:
We are multi-relating. Interested in photography, video editing… and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Therefore bonding over multiple common interests.
Ronaldo has nothing to do with photography. But he has everything to do with showing up consistently and being great.
So the comparison of that and you being consistent with posting content on social media works.
Think of Peter McKinnon:
He combines his interests around coffee, trucks, and making leather goods. He is also really funny, a pirate-like human, and charismatic on camera
We relate to him as a human, we want to be like him so we go to him to watch his videos and buy his products.
Then compare that to a super niche account with no personality driving it (think a feature account or faceless account)
Nice content, the same as Peter McKinnon…
But if they were to both bring out a beginner photography course tomorrow, I would bet my Shoreditch apartment on Peter’s course outselling the other.
2. Lean into what makes you weird
When first on camera it is nerve-racking… I get it.
But the sooner you can let your amazing personality express itself whilst delivering a valuable message, the better
I am overly gestureful with my hands
Like an Italian, which people think I am… I am not.. or am I 😉
I combine multiple languages in the same sentences because that is genuinely how my head forms a sentence.
It is weird, but spicy, so do what makes you spicy 😉 (another wink face damnnn, might have to drop a side eye next)
I wear crazy clothes - shoutout to my petrol-colored rave jacket, OG viewers know which one I mean.
Look at Alex Hormozi, one of the biggest names on social media right now.
He does most of his videos giving business advice, whilst sitting in a white tank top with a nose strip on
When I first started watching his videos, I loved his message. But I couldn’t remember his name…
When talking about him to friends I described him as “The jacked hairy dude in a white tank top”
His image stuck with me… it worked.
3. Self develop relentlessly
The more you level up as a person, the more you can help those a few steps behind you level up as well.
There are a tonne of books, audiobooks, podcasts, courses, and YouTube channels out there... including mine if you haven’t subbed yet.
Information is at your fingertips, dive into it like Tom Daley at the Olympics
You can quite literally find anyone who you look up to, learn what they did to get where they are
And proceed to act like that yourself and bring about similar success.
If you want some good recommendations then DM me on Instagram and we can chat there
You quite literally must Self-develop.
Because if you don’t advance your skills as a creative in your chosen field, then you won’t have anything new to share or teach.
Thus resulting in stale content, and we don’t want that.
Immerse yourself in mastering your chosen field of interest, research relentlessly, and experiment frequently with different techniques and styles.
This is where you become a unique creator
Because you will start to make links across a variety of topics that no one else is doing because they don’t have your brain or connect the dots like you do.
You have to evolve so your audience can keep evolving up to you also
Like I said DM me for some recommendations
As always, happy creating peeps!
